The 4Runner, FJ Cruiser and Lexus GX share much of the same front suspension, so many of the same kits fit all three. That makes them some of the best-supported SUVs for prerunner and overland builds.
Mid travel: keep it daily-drivable
Mid travel kits level the truck, add travel and keep the stock width. Dirt King makes two versions:
- PreRunner kits use billet upper control arms and 2.5 DCA coilovers and shocks, tuned for faster off-road driving: 2003–2024 4Runner and 2025+ 4Runner.
- Trail Runner kits use 4130 upper control arms with 2.0 IFP coilovers and shocks, tuned for comfort on everyday roads and trails: 2003–2024 4Runner and 2025+ 4Runner.
+2" long travel: more travel, stock fenders
The Dirt King +2" Long Travel Kit for the 4Runner and FJ Cruiser adds 2" of width per side and more than 25% more travel, and it can work with stock fenders using 33" tires and a zero or positive offset wheel.

Both kits work on 2WD and 4WD trucks. 4WD needs long travel axle shafts or complete axle assemblies, plus spec coilovers such as the FOX 2.5 long travel coilovers.

Prerunner or overland?
